Hypnobirth, 4D, Little Big Town, & Taylor sings with Bieber!

I learned a couple new things today.
Have you ever heard of hypnobirth? You know what Real D and 3D movies are, but do you know what 4D means? The new movie Spy Kids is in 4D. Jessica Alba, beautifully pregnant with her 2nd child, visited the ladies of The Talk and explains both. CLICK THIS TO WATCH THE VIDEO.

The Talk also had a performance from one of the best sounding bands ever, Little Big Town! They performed "The Reason Why". CLICK THIS TO WATCH LBT PERFORMANCE VIDEO.

Taylor Swift sings with Justin Bieber!
Teenagers everywhere will lose their marbles over this one. Taylor & The Beebs in one performance?!?!? That's gotta be the ultimate drug! HaHaHa
Here are some exciting videos from the surprise performance during Taylor's tour stop in Los Angeles this week:

That's the short version but best audio. Here's another longer version with a different angle from a screaming fan:

I can only imagine the pandemonium and ear piercing noise when this happened. I would have loved every minute of it!

Well, that was a first!
For me at least. The 5.9 magnitude earthquake that centered in Virginia felt from South Carolina to Canada and out to Ohio and back. My experience in Frederick, Maryland scared me to the bone. I was sitting on a couch catching up on the news of the day and heard a low rumble that got a little louder and felt a quick jerk of the house. My dog started barking, the cats jumped up from their sleep and went nutts. I thought a big truck hat plowed into the front of the house. Being that I was in the back room of the house I started to get up to go check but before I could stand up the second wave came it was what scared me the most! The furniture moved, the lights were swaying. It felt like the basement was moving one way and the rest of the house was moving the other way. The noises of the walls & windows moving and rattling shook me the most. I described it on Facebook as a giant standing in the driveway kicking the house or trying to push it over. I hate to say this but a bomb or attack of some sort went thru my mind before earthquake too. Well, who would have thunk it? I didn't have cell service for over an hour and that takes the level of anxiousness higher. When you can't check on people or check in with others, nerves get the best of you. Go figure, I had access to Facebook, but no phone. That was an experience to say the least!

"C'mon! Everybody Cut Loose"
I haven't talked much about, but am really looking forward to the new Footloose remake. It will be in theaters Oct 14th. Julianne Hough, Dennis Quaid and newcomer Kenny Wormald star in the new version of the old classic. They claim to be staying very true to the original which is good news. I have to say I'm probably just as excited about the soundtrack! Great article about the movie and soundtrack CLICK HERE. Check out the listing of familiar Country/Rock/Pop singers covering such classic songs:
1. Footloose – Blake Shelton2. Where The River Goes – Zac Brown3. Little Lovin’ – Lissie
4. Holding Out For A Hero – Ella Mae Bowen
5. Let’s Hear It For The Boy – Jana Kramer
6. So Sorry Mama – Whitney Duncan7. Fake I.D. – Big & Rich feat. Gretchen Wilson8. Almost Paradise – Victoria Justice & Hunter Hayes9. Walkin’ Blues – Cee Lo Green feat. Kenny Wayne Shepherd10. Window Paine – The Smashing Pumpkins11. Suicide Eyes – A Thousand Horses

JonBenet, Taylor on True Blood, Urban loves Clarence, Martina & Train again plus Kardashian wedding weekend!

The "wow, how time flies" moment of the week is seeing a story on MSN.com about how JonBenet Ramsey would have been 21 YEARS OLD today. THAT blew my mind. That pretty little girl sadly found her fame with her murder. I remember being glued to the TV every time there was new info on her case. It's crazy to think that was 15 years ago! CLICK HERE TO READ ABOUT THIS UNSOLVED TRAGEDY.

Two of my favorite things will combine this weekend. Taylor Swift and True Blood on HBO. OK, that favorite's list is REALLY long but still it's cool. No Taylor won't be on the show, but one of her songs will. It's the song that I think is the most "mature" of Taylor's. "Haunted" will play during what is being described as a "raunchy sex scene." That is surprising at first but know that her camp said no, but Taylor gave approval herself for the song to be used on the episode. She's growing up! Not surprising at all that there would be a raunchy sex scene on True Blood though...Not something for kids that's for sure.
Here's a great Haunted video with in studio footage and interview from Taylor in the middle.

Do you know why Keith Urban named his favorite guitar Clarence? Have you ever heard the story of him finding and buying Clarence? THIS is an awesome video interview from Fender Guitars where Keith tells the stories! I love hearing old stories from accomplished musicians. Good stuff here. Oh, and I'll never get sick of hearing his Aussie accent either. :)

Rock band Train recently played a show in Nashville and wouldn't you know it, they were joined on stage by good friend Martina McBride! If you remember, Martina joined Train for one of CMT's Crossroads specials. It was fantastic. One of the songs that stood out most from that special was "Broken Wing." I got chills when I saw it, and I got chills again seeing this fan video of the surprise performance during Train's concert. I drip with jealousy over Martina and Pat Monahan's talents. Their voices are unbelievable.

Kim Kardashian's wedding to Kris Humphries is tomorrow (Sat). This will be an unbelievable spectacle to say the least. Kim is rumored to be wearing a Red/Pink tone dress with her bridesmaids wearing an emerald green color. Sounds a little gaudy but Kim has nothing but taste so I'm sure it will be ravishing! Kim will get everything any girl could dream of. Price tag is said to be around $20 million for the big day! That is 20x what Donald Trump spend on his last wedding to Melania. That makes me ill but I admit, I can't wait to see all the photos and coverage of the event! CLICK HERE TO READ MORE ABOUT THIS HOLLYWOOD WEDDING SPECTACULAR! Wedding coverage is supposed to run during a 2 night special (way to drag that out) in October on E!

Jake Owen PreOrder, Kellie Pickler on TV & HOT Sony Nashville Music

I love Jake Owen! I've had a special "thing" for him ever since he began. Well, to be clear, it became a "thing" after meeting him in Memphis during a St. Jude seminar. It was in the Peabody Hotel lobby. All the visiting radio station people and artists congregate together and mingle. He was friendly and cool. His eyes are what got me! Later that night we saw him again at BB King's Restaurant/Bar. He sure was a ladies man! Easily still could be. Seems like he may be stepping up to that next level he truly deserves with help from his HUGE Summer hit "Barefoot Blue Jean Night". I like to think that I may have had something to do with the song's success in Washington DC because I got a copy of the song before it was released as a single and slightly hounded my boss at the time to let me play it at night.  I put it on our new music battle "The Country Kat Fight" and the listeners loved the song too! Jake played a lot on my night show. :) I've been very excited about his new album and it will be out soon! Check out this super cool preorder bundle that includes all kinds of goodies like T-shirts, posters, decals and more! CLICK THIS TO GET BUNDLE DETAILS. Three package bundles are available with three price points. Delivery date Aug 29th!

Kellie Pickler is getting acting lessons in preparation for her upcoming role on the CW's 90210! Kellie is going to play Sally, a country music singin' cousin of local cowboy Austin played by Justin Deeley. Kellie will also perform her latest top 30 single "Tough". Kelly said “Well my zip code growing up was a long way from 90210 so it will definitely be acting,” joked Pickler about the role. “I’m really excited and a little bit nervous about it but will be a fun and unique place to perform “Tough.”’ Watch the CW network Tuesdays at 8 this Fall to see Kellie's acting debut on 90210!

Visiting The Avengers Movie Set!

They are shooting scenes for next year's The Avengers movie in Cleveland, OH. After we finished helping with mom's basement we paid a visit to the set in downtown Cleveland to see what we could see. It was amazing to see how they could transform 2 blocks of old Cleveland into demolished New York City!
It looked so real! It really seemed like huge chunks of the buildings had been blasted out and fallen on vehicles on the road. It was definitely impressive.
I surely wouldn't want to be the person that has to clean this all up once they are done shooting. Look at the carefully placed piles of debris and small chunks of concrete.
It felt like we were in the wrong city with all the NYPD cars, NY Taxis and buses on the set. Below you can see them setting up one of the cameras for their shoot.
Crews were bringing all the fancy camera equipment. They are getting ready to shoot an action scene with explosions, smoke and fire.
This large rig was special to see. On one end is a camera that extends really high up and will move up/down & side to side to get all the best angles of the action!
Once they started shooting some small action scenes with the extras running from the smoke/fire the scene looked quite realistic. It really looked like a war zone in there!
It's amazing how many people are involved. Below is crew and extras working on a scene.
It was fun walking down the streets closed off for the shoot and seeing all the extra New York vehicles they will be using on set. Like this NYPD car and WABC NY TV News crew van. Cool! It felt more like we were in NYC than Cleveland. Ha!

CMA Music Fest is THE place to be every Summer for Country music fans. Every year I say I'm gonna go and still haven't made it. The next best thing is watching the intense fun on TV! This Sunday night is when you can see the best of the best moments on the ABC special CMA Music Fest Country's Night To Rock at 8pm! Enjoy over 30 artists perform and some off stage antics too! I can't wait to see Blake Shelton, Zac Brown Band, Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley, Sara Evans, Shania and the rest of the gang! CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE FUN CMA MUSIC FEST PAGE.

Here's a video of one of the songs Blake Shelton performed. He's covering Bobby Brown's My Prerogative. Who would have ever thought?!?!

My WeekendI'll be spending time with family this weekend. I need it. I am very proud of my niece Alexandra who not only graduated from high school but graduated with enough college credits to head straight into medical school. She was accepted out of 2000 applicants to get into a special accelerated program. Somehow she got the smart genes in the family. She wants to be a family practice doctor. We'll be celebrating her and her success this weekend. It will be great to see all the extended family too.
We will also be helping with my parent's basement. Their flood a few weeks ago did a lot of damage. They've had a lot of work done and we will be helping them unload their POD and get some things back to normal. Things are coming along!
Have a great weekend!

Lady A, Martina, Eric Church & Warrant lead singer dead.

-Lady A will perform on the second episode of Saturday Night Live's new season on NBC. Melissa McCarthy who plays Molly on CBS's Mike & Molly will host. She's hilarious. The members of Lady A sure seem to have a good sense of humor. I'd be interested in seeing them included in a skit or two. You?

-Martina McBride's new album Eleven will be out 11-11-11. Wait, there's more...It's her 11th studio album and will feature 11 songs. It also celebrates Martina being the most played female Country artist over the past...(you guessed it)...11 years.

-It's no secret I love Eric Church. His new album Chief has been in my CD player since I got it. It's also the #1 album in the Country! It has his latest hit Homeboy is on it.  His new single is exactly what you want to hear from him when he opens for Toby. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO DRINK IN MY HAND

-Sad death to talk about. Gone way too young. Jani Lane. Lead singer of rock band Warrant. He was only 47. If you've ever once stepped into a bar,  you've heard Warrant's Cherry Pie if not Heaven. Down Boys & Uncle Tom's Cabin were big radio hits too. I grew up on a lot of rock, 4 big brothers will do that to ya. Jani has had a lot of issues revolving around alchohol. He died of undetermined causes according to TMZ.

My Dog is One Happy Pup!

We adopted our dog Sophie about 3 1/2 years ago. She was found in a ditch, paws stuck in frozen water. She was emaciated, fragile and scared to the bone. The rescuers took care of her for a few weeks before sending out word that she was perfect for adoption. At the time one of my best girl friends was volunteering at a nearby shelter and forwarded me the email she received announcing Sophie's adoption. Within a week we had Sophie home with us. In the beginning we struggled with her. She had severe separation anxiety and walked around with her tail between her legs 24 hours a day. She was obviously abused because any sudden move we made or loud noise heard she cowered and flinched. We had weeks of messes to clean up too. She'd "go" every time we put her in the laundry room. We gated it to give her her own space and had a doggy bed and blankets in there, the whole 9 yards. Whether we left the house or went to bed, we'd be greeted by a huge mess. That was until my shelter friend recommended we crate her. THIS was the answer to our prayers! At first I felt so bad putting her in a crate and locking her in.  Do you know the minute we put the darn thing up she walked right inside and made herself comfortable? Never had another issue from that moment on. I've learned that the crate gives the dog their own spot to feel safe.
My Sophie is benefiting from me being home more often. Before, she would have a few hours of loneliness between me going to work and my husband coming home from work. Now she's free as a bird! No crate needed! She and I have been able to hang. Dogs can totally sense what's up. She can tell things aren't right and she's been by my side nonstop. She also seems to get a few more treats in this situation. Wouldn't it be nice to be a dog? Then again, a Kat's life ain't that bad either. :)

Welcome! Let's have fun )

I've been a fortunate girl. I've worked for amazing legendary radio stations. I've learned so much from fabulous coworkers and managers. I've been able to love what I do everyday for the last 13 years. This is the first time I've experienced being "let go". It is something you can't understand until you've exerienced it. I've seen this happen to many a coworker, a friend. You feel bad for them and you offer support in any way you can, but you can't possibly imagine what's going through their heads and hearts. That is, until you go through it yourself.
Life goes into chaos mode and you really have to try to keep clear, rational & professional thoughts in and the emotional, overly dramatic thoughts out as best you can. Otherwise you can lose it and have an even harder time keeping your head on straight and focussing on moving forward. I'm only 48 hours in but I'm trying very hard to keep things level.
When life was "normal" I would spend hours on the internet every day keeping track of everything entertaining. All to use in some way on my radio show. Wether it was just a quick reminder of when an artist was releasing new music or even a YouTube Video of something funny that I could include on my radio station blog. It's called "show prep" in the radio world. A good radio DJ is doing show prep 24 hours a day. Thinking of using anything from the entertainment world, or life experiences on their show. I realized that in the last 2 days of tears, phone calls, emails & research on unemployment, I truly MISSED this aspect of my daily routine. This blog will be theraputic for me and will be a great way for you to still enjoy the treats I find entertaining! Hope you enjoy this. Let's have some fun!

One of the things that stood out to me today was a fan video of Taylor Swift's concert in Chicago. One of the very unique and admirable things Taylor is doing on her tour is recognizing artists from the town she is playing in. She teaches herself how to play that artists song on the guitar before reaching that city and "covers" or performs that artists popular song in her own way. She pays homage to the towns stars. While in Chicago she performed a song from Rock bad Fall Out Boy. I love when Country singers cover other artists songs. It's one of my guilty pleasures. Enjoy Taylor's version of Sugar We're Goin Down Swingin'. (try to ignore the girl taking the video - she sings a lot) :)

Taylor's new video for Sparks Fly features awesome concert footage!

sf from Taylor Swift on Vimeo.

Lady Antebellum gave me the comic relief I needed today. They along with Colt Ford, spoofed Jason Aldean's Dirt Road Anthem. All I gotta say is "club sandwich y'all!" LOL
