Our first "Purrrrrdy Boy" was Harry Connick Jr. One, he's gorgeous. Two, his philanthropic efforts are A-mazing! Three, I love his voice/music. Tonight I add another worthy man and coincidentally he is of the same genre. Honestly, this was an accident. Purrrrdy Boy #2 is Michael Buble'!
Michael, who is very outspoken, has a new book out and an album coming out next week. Most would expect the book to be an in depth description of the life of Mr. Buble'. Not so much,. He said that book is coming, but much later. He'll do a memoir once he's "put more miles in his rear view mirror." Instead it is a picture book (which I ain't complaining about).
Michael Buble is releasing "Christmas" on Tuesday Oct 24th. I love Christmas. I'm like an Elf. So this is right up my alley too! Especially when I hear that he asked Shania Twain to duet with him on "White Christmas". Totally Rad! Watch this and hear a sneak peak of their version. All I can say is O-M-G! Shania sounds sooooo cool!
Have a Country Halloween this year with the super cool pumpkin carving templates of Brad Paisley, Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, Kellie Pickler, Blake Shelton and MORE! So cool and you better believe I'm gonna try this. Fun stuff! I hope to be in our new house by Halloween, otherwise I'll have to carve one and leave it on my mom's front steps. :) CLICK HERE TO GET THE TEMPLATES from GACtv.com.
Extreme Pumpkins!
This guy blows my mind. Ray Villafane has a serious talent. Others try to duplicate his talent and just can't come close. He is THE MAN when it comes to carving pumpkins. You can't imagine the detail in his 3D pumpkins. He looks at a pumpkin in the field and comes up with these amazing faces and characters just by its shape or the way it lays on the ground. There are tons of shots you can check out in his GALLERY HERE. It's a MUST SEE!
Nadya Suleman has a role in a low-budget horror film called Millennium. Art reflects life? She plays a woman who gets impregnated by a demon. Her manager says she is only doing it for the medical insurance. I'm sure aspiring actresses everywhere love hearing that! Once she does the film, she'll be eligible for SAG health benefits. Isn't that convenient! I mean, I get it, the kids need to be taken care of but really? What a complete joke.
Jack Black & Urban? Yep!
I love finding video of unique pair ups. This week, actor/singer Jack Black joined Keith Urban on stage to sing a little ditty you know well called "The Devil Went Down To Georgia". Awesomeness!!!
Tim McGraw on Broadway!
Tim McGraw told Hollywoodlife.com that he wants to do Broadway next! As long as he can still focus on his Country Music career at the same time, he's game! He doesn't want to do a musical, which seems backwards, he'd rather do a drama. Bring it on Tim! You can see Tim in theaters with his new movie "Dirty Girl" now!
Taylor's new Honor & pair up!
Taylor has been named Billboard's Woman of the Year. This award stands out a little more than some others to me because they not only look at record and touring success but also songwriting and philanthropic efforts too. There sure is something to be said for someone of such celebrity status to give back and inspire others. Way to go Taylor!
At her sold out Cowboy's stadium show, Taylor invited rapper B.o.B on stage to perform "Airplanes" together. Fan video fun below!
Miranda Dishes
You'll see Miranda Lambert on the cover of Ladies Home Journal and inside she dishes on Blake, her new album "Four the Record", the song she and Blake wrote together, what she's doing for Thanksgiving and more! Miranda invited some friends to join her in the studio. Imagine Miranda singing with Little Big Town, and Charles Kelley from Lady A. O-M-G. CLICK HERE to read all the details!
Garth & Fuzzy Dice
Garth shows at the Wynn in Las Vegas are in full swing! Additional shows through February go on sale this Saturday October 8th. CLICK HERE to know more!
Kellie "Cucumbers" Pickler
Every time Kellie Pickler visits the Ellen show I laugh...hard. Harder each time actually. Kellie is just funny, but she is also a good sport and that helps a lot. Kellie let Ellen get away with quite a bit. Love her.
Romantic McGraw
During his Regis & Kellie visit, Tim McGraw talked about his new movie "Dirty Girl", opening this weekend, but what stood out the most to me was him reminiscing about his wedding day and the first time he saw a picture of Faith Hill. It's so nice to see a celebrity who openly adores his wife and kids.
Luke Bryan on Ellen
Luke performed "Country Girl" then did a skit with Ellen. A spoof on cheesey soap opera's. It's funny and Luke gets shirtless...so its a nice bonus!
Dierks on Fallon
Dierks Bentley performed Pink Floyd on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. All week different stars were honoring PF with their own interpretations of their music. Dierks performed "Wish You Were Here." Video takes a moment to load. If the video below acts funny, CLICK HERE TO GO TO WEB PAGE TO WATCH.
Big Steps for Scotty!
Wow, what an honor! American Idol winner Scotty McCreery was asked to open Brad Paisley's 2012 tour! Scotty is entering his senior year of high school and does plan to go to college but you don't turn down an offer directly from Brad to tour with him. Scotty said “It’s really humbling that somebody like him would invite me to tour w/ him. I just hope i’m ready for any pranks he throws my way." Yeah, he better get prepared! Scotty's debut album will be out Tuesday. Read More HERE.
Hit the Seas with Blake Shelton & FRIENDS!
The seven day Blake Shelton Caribbean Cruise sets sail October 14, 2012 and visits San Juan, St. Thomas, Tortola, and Nassau. Blake just announced that Trace Adkins, Easton Corbin and Neal McCoy will also be sailing and performing on the ship! MORE artists are likely to join in on the fun and will be announced soon. Congrats to The Flatts!
Rascal Flatts will become the newest members of the Grand Ole Opry on October 8th. One of the highest honors as a Country Musician. They also got rave reviews from the iHeartRadio Music Festival as one of the best sounding acts of the night. (Carrie Underwood is being praised as the best!) The guys are taking off the rest of the year and beginning of 2012 to work on a new album that they revealed to Bilboard Mag will be out April 3rd.
I have to admit, when it first came out, I didn't like their new song Easy w/Natasha Bedingfield. But the more I heard it the more it grew on me and to be honest I kinda LOVE it now. Enjoy the video from Vevo.
Blue Bloods
Blue Bloods new season premiered Friday evening with Carrie Underwood performing with Tony Bennet. To watch the video of Carrie & Tony singing "It Had To Be You" CLICK HERE. I'm really looking forward to seeing the premiere of Terranova tonight on Fox!
Carrie News
Carrie Underwood recently mentioned that she is working on her 4th album. She's doing a little at a time, not rushing into it. Carrie said it won't be released until it's "perfect". That is exciting!
Justin Bieber's Country Christmas
Looks like Justin Bieber will be releasing a Christmas duet album. Word has it that there will be a duet with Taylor Swift & The Band Perry will be joining The Beebs on a holiday song too! There will be many other guests singers from other genres too. No release date yet but I'm sure it will be either late October or early November.
No More Acting for Toby
Beer For My Horses & Broken Bridges will have to be it cause Toby Keith says no more acting for him! He said that the time it took to focus and work on those movies took too much time away from his song writing. He said "I proved to myself I could do it...All right I've done that." Toby's next album Clancy's Tavern will be out on October 24th!
Dumb, Duh Dumb DUMB!
Starbucks revealed a limited edition T-Shirt. A "T" that looks like you dumped your coffee down your white shirt. Oh, and it's $85. Puh-leez. Seriously? Expensive gag gift? Maybe. Other than that...seems ridiculous. CLICK HERE to order or laugh at it.
Taylor Swift surprised her Nashville fans with MANY special guests this week. She called in some favors from her friends in Nashville. Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Ronnie Dunn and Paramore's Haley Williams. Watch these fan videos of the priceless moments!
Taylor & Tim McGraw
Taylor & Kenny Chesney
(i was a little disappointed that it seems Kenny forgets the words)
I'm seeing so many people complain on Facebook and Twitter about this colder weather and I gotta say...I'm lovin' it! I'm much comfortable in colder weather clothes and I love all that comes along with Fall and Winter! I'm seeing the mums everywhere and I love them! I want to buy them every time I see them. I'm seeing advertisements for Fall/Harvest festivals everywhere and I want to go to all of them! I love the colors, the smells, the foods, the clothes. Oh, I could go on and on! I've always said, it's easier when your cold to put warm clothes on...But when you are hot you can't get naked! HaHaHa. So I'm a happy camper going into Fall.
Speaking of jeans...
Yesterday I decided to reward myself after hitting the 30lb mark of my weight loss journey. No, I didn't go buy a Peanut Buster Parfait from Dairy Queen. God knows I sure wanted to! Instead I went on the hunt for some new jeans that fit right! Through this process I've held off buying new clothes but I was at the point where my jeans were so baggy I looked like I was wearing a diaper in the back and a huge air pouch in the front. I ended up getting 2 sizes smaller than I wore before which was so exciting! I about screamed in the dressing room but didn't want to freak everyone else out. I settled for a quiet little cheer and modest bouncing dance move amongst myself. I really felt on top of the world! On top of my excitement JcPenney was having a massive sale. I ended up getting my new jeans at 70% off once I used my coupon. Sha-Bang! So Thursday was a good day!
Jason Aldean Corn Maze!
A Shelby, NC farm has honored Jason Aldean with his image being the model for their Fall Corn Maze this year. It supposedly takes about an hour to get through. Looking at it, I think I'd be lost. Click Here to read more about it!
Boys
I'm watching David Beckam on Ellen while I type this and it has inspired me to start a new feature on this blog called "Purrrrrrrrdy Boys". Although David is a looker, he will not be the first on the list. The first will be Harry Connick Jr. Raaaaar! Harry is featured on the cover and inside September's Success Magazine.
After Hurricane Katrina, Harry wanted to help and give back to his beloved hometown of New Orleans. He and a friend came up with a way to incorporate his passion for music with his hometown and the children living there. Click this link to read more about the Ellis Marsalis Center For Music and how Harry is still inspiring the people of New Orleans to this day. He is one cold drink of water on a hot and humid day! I think this next shot from the mag backs me up! Woohoo!
Many more "Purrrrrrdy Boys" to come! This is JUST the beginning. Can I get a yee-haw?!?!
FINALLY!!!
Since Feb I've been trying to lose weight on my own. I've made healthier choices and changed my eating habits. I started out with the intention of hitting the treadmill 4 - 5 times a week, but I will admit I slacked off a little. I fell back to about 2 - 3 times a week. I did not follow any sort of diet plan or regimen. Instead I did things like adding more fruit and veggies to my diet and cut back on some calories with things like Almond Milk instead of 2% milk, cut back on salt and drink lots of water! I've been trying to keep the new food pyramid in mind too. Honestly I do what I can when I can. With that said, it sure took me a while but I finally hit my 30 lb goal! Losing 30 pounds has been a struggle. I am quite proud though to say I did it on my own! Now my next goal is 20 lbs by Jan. I normally wouldn't be so public with this because it is a major struggle and can be a little embarrassing at times, but I figured if I open up about it then I have to be more accountable for my actions. Hopefully this will help too! Do you have any secrets that would help? I would love to know what small changes you've made in your diet that has helped you! Please comment below if you have any suggestions for me! Thanks!
Trip to McDonald's Is Lethal
I couldn't believe my eyes when I read this story. It's tragic and shocking that this could even happen. Just think about how many times you've gone to a fast food restaurant and how lucky you are that this uncommon incident didn't happen to you. Here's the story from AP:
Police said yesterday that carbon dioxide leaking from a soda fountain at a McDonald's in Savannah, Georgia made 10 people ill, including a woman who died after being found unconscious in the ladies room.
Investigators believe that a gas line was leaking between the walls of the McDonald's for about a week and gave off fumes that left those in the fast-food restaurant unable to breathe.
Pooler Police Chief Mark Revenew said, "It caused what is normally a harmless gas to be pumped into the wall cavity and leak into the women's restroom. At a high level of concentration, it displaces oxygen."
Made Me Think of My Mom
My mom is amazing, loving, caring, helpful, wise, and hysterical! She's also completely and utterly technologically challenged. It is comical at times. She still can't use the VCR let alone the DVD player and sometimes has issues using email still. Seeing this video absolutely made me think of her. If you have anyone like this in your life you will crack up too! The 2 minute mark is the best.
Easy Bake Oven From Mars!
I get it, things change through time and become more modern. However, the description of why they updated the look of the easy bake oven "to look more like a real appliance" confuses me. I have relatively new appliances and none of them look like this! HaHaHa. Whatever. Just about every girl wants an Easy Bake Oven at some point in their childhood. It's a classic and probably will be forever! Here's the new oven:
The most shocking change is that it will no longer require a light bulb. Since the government is phasing out the incandescent bulbs, they had to come up with a new way of baking. Now there is a heating element inside. Sounds like if I was a kid now a days, my mom would not feel this is safe. Good thing it was just a bulb when I was a kid. After seeing this I couldn't get the Easy Bake old commercial out of my head so I did a search and what do ya know...I found it! Now you can have it stuck in your head too! :)
Along with millions of other Americans...My new theme song is from Burns & Poe!
Beautiful New Momma!

Blake gets Footloose! CLICK HERE to listen to Blake Shelton's version of the classic 80's song "Footloose". The song will be on the upcoming movie soundtrack. The entire list of songs and artists on the Footloose soundtrack is below. I like it, but expected a little more. It's more cheesy than I thought it would be. I love Blake, so my expectations were high. I was pumped to see what he'd do with this. Turns out, not much. The article with Blake's comments about the soundtrack and song preview are HERE.
Blake's new video features Miranda home video! It's stinkin' adorable too! The "God Gave Me You" video is just very real and very Hot Blake! I love the scruffy Blake. WATCH HIS VIDEO PREMIERE HERE!

I can only imagine the pandemonium and ear piercing noise when this happened. I would have loved every minute of it!

Well, that was a first!
For me at least. The 5.9 magnitude earthquake that centered in Virginia felt from South Carolina to Canada and out to Ohio and back. My experience in Frederick, Maryland scared me to the bone. I was sitting on a couch catching up on the news of the day and heard a low rumble that got a little louder and felt a quick jerk of the house. My dog started barking, the cats jumped up from their sleep and went nutts. I thought a big truck hat plowed into the front of the house. Being that I was in the back room of the house I started to get up to go check but before I could stand up the second wave came it was what scared me the most! The furniture moved, the lights were swaying. It felt like the basement was moving one way and the rest of the house was moving the other way. The noises of the walls & windows moving and rattling shook me the most. I described it on Facebook as a giant standing in the driveway kicking the house or trying to push it over. I hate to say this but a bomb or attack of some sort went thru my mind before earthquake too. Well, who would have thunk it? I didn't have cell service for over an hour and that takes the level of anxiousness higher. When you can't check on people or check in with others, nerves get the best of you. Go figure, I had access to Facebook, but no phone. That was an experience to say the least!
"C'mon! Everybody Cut Loose"
I haven't talked much about, but am really looking forward to the new Footloose remake. It will be in theaters Oct 14th. Julianne Hough, Dennis Quaid and newcomer Kenny Wormald star in the new version of the old classic. They claim to be staying very true to the original which is good news. I have to say I'm probably just as excited about the soundtrack! Great article about the movie and soundtrack CLICK HERE. Check out the listing of familiar Country/Rock/Pop singers covering such classic songs:
1. Footloose – Blake Shelton2. Where The River Goes – Zac Brown3. Little Lovin’ – Lissie
4. Holding Out For A Hero – Ella Mae Bowen
5. Let’s Hear It For The Boy – Jana Kramer
6. So Sorry Mama – Whitney Duncan7. Fake I.D. – Big & Rich feat. Gretchen Wilson8. Almost Paradise – Victoria Justice & Hunter Hayes9. Walkin’ Blues – Cee Lo Green feat. Kenny Wayne Shepherd10. Window Paine – The Smashing Pumpkins11. Suicide Eyes – A Thousand Horses

Casey James released his first single "Let's Don't Call It a Night" is now available on iTunes. Casey will also be touring with Sugarland! CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO HIS DEBUT SINGLE.
I found a video interview with Casey talking about fans, touring and his music!
The "wow, how time flies" moment of the week is seeing a story on MSN.com about how JonBenet Ramsey would have been 21 YEARS OLD today. THAT blew my mind. That pretty little girl sadly found her fame with her murder. I remember being glued to the TV every time there was new info on her case. It's crazy to think that was 15 years ago! CLICK HERE TO READ ABOUT THIS UNSOLVED TRAGEDY.
Two of my favorite things will combine this weekend. Taylor Swift and True Blood on HBO. OK, that favorite's list is REALLY long but still it's cool. No Taylor won't be on the show, but one of her songs will. It's the song that I think is the most "mature" of Taylor's. "Haunted" will play during what is being described as a "raunchy sex scene." That is surprising at first but know that her camp said no, but Taylor gave approval herself for the song to be used on the episode. She's growing up! Not surprising at all that there would be a raunchy sex scene on True Blood though...Not something for kids that's for sure.
Here's a great Haunted video with in studio footage and interview from Taylor in the middle.
Do you know why Keith Urban named his favorite guitar Clarence? Have you ever heard the story of him finding and buying Clarence? THIS is an awesome video interview from Fender Guitars where Keith tells the stories! I love hearing old stories from accomplished musicians. Good stuff here. Oh, and I'll never get sick of hearing his Aussie accent either. :)
Rock band Train recently played a show in Nashville and wouldn't you know it, they were joined on stage by good friend Martina McBride! If you remember, Martina joined Train for one of CMT's Crossroads specials. It was fantastic. One of the songs that stood out most from that special was "Broken Wing." I got chills when I saw it, and I got chills again seeing this fan video of the surprise performance during Train's concert. I drip with jealousy over Martina and Pat Monahan's talents. Their voices are unbelievable.
Kim Kardashian's wedding to Kris Humphries is tomorrow (Sat). This will be an unbelievable spectacle to say the least. Kim is rumored to be wearing a Red/Pink tone dress with her bridesmaids wearing an emerald green color. Sounds a little gaudy but Kim has nothing but taste so I'm sure it will be ravishing! Kim will get everything any girl could dream of. Price tag is said to be around $20 million for the big day! That is 20x what Donald Trump spend on his last wedding to Melania. That makes me ill but I admit, I can't wait to see all the photos and coverage of the event! CLICK HERE TO READ MORE ABOUT THIS HOLLYWOOD WEDDING SPECTACULAR! Wedding coverage is supposed to run during a 2 night special (way to drag that out) in October on E!
I love Jake Owen! I've had a special "thing" for him ever since he began. Well, to be clear, it became a "thing" after meeting him in Memphis during a St. Jude seminar. It was in the Peabody Hotel lobby. All the visiting radio station people and artists congregate together and mingle. He was friendly and cool. His eyes are what got me! Later that night we saw him again at BB King's Restaurant/Bar. He sure was a ladies man! Easily still could be. Seems like he may be stepping up to that next level he truly deserves with help from his HUGE Summer hit "Barefoot Blue Jean Night". I like to think that I may have had something to do with the song's success in Washington DC because I got a copy of the song before it was released as a single and slightly hounded my boss at the time to let me play it at night. I put it on our new music battle "The Country Kat Fight" and the listeners loved the song too! Jake played a lot on my night show. :) I've been very excited about his new album and it will be out soon! Check out this super cool preorder bundle that includes all kinds of goodies like T-shirts, posters, decals and more! CLICK THIS TO GET BUNDLE DETAILS. Three package bundles are available with three price points. Delivery date Aug 29th! *CLICK HERE FOR A GREAT SNEAK PEEK OF JAKE'S NEW ALBUM IN WALMART SOUNDCHECKS*
Kellie Pickler is getting acting lessons in preparation for her upcoming role on the CW's 90210! Kellie is going to play Sally, a country music singin' cousin of local cowboy Austin played by Justin Deeley. Kellie will also perform her latest top 30 single "Tough". Kelly said “Well my zip code growing up was a long way from 90210 so it will definitely be acting,” joked Pickler about the role. “I’m really excited and a little bit nervous about it but will be a fun and unique place to perform “Tough.”’ Watch the CW network Tuesdays at 8 this Fall to see Kellie's acting debut on 90210!
Blake Shelton gives his 2 cents on "what guys find attractive" in the latest issue of Cosmopolitan magazine. It's in stores now! Blake says "I've always liked it when a woman can blend in with my friends and not just sit in the corner."
They are shooting scenes for next year's The Avengers movie in Cleveland, OH. After we finished helping with mom's basement we paid a visit to the set in downtown Cleveland to see what we could see. It was amazing to see how they could transform 2 blocks of old Cleveland into demolished New York City!
It looked so real! It really seemed like huge chunks of the buildings had been blasted out and fallen on vehicles on the road. It was definitely impressive.
I surely wouldn't want to be the person that has to clean this all up once they are done shooting. Look at the carefully placed piles of debris and small chunks of concrete.
It felt like we were in the wrong city with all the NYPD cars, NY Taxis and buses on the set. Below you can see them setting up one of the cameras for their shoot.
Crews were bringing all the fancy camera equipment. They are getting ready to shoot an action scene with explosions, smoke and fire.
This large rig was special to see. On one end is a camera that extends really high up and will move up/down & side to side to get all the best angles of the action!
Once they started shooting some small action scenes with the extras running from the smoke/fire the scene looked quite realistic. It really looked like a war zone in there!
It's amazing how many people are involved. Below is crew and extras working on a scene.
It was fun walking down the streets closed off for the shoot and seeing all the extra New York vehicles they will be using on set. Like this NYPD car and WABC NY TV News crew van. Cool! It felt more like we were in NYC than Cleveland. Ha!

Here's a video of one of the songs Blake Shelton performed. He's covering Bobby Brown's My Prerogative. Who would have ever thought?!?!
My WeekendI'll be spending time with family this weekend. I need it. I am very proud of my niece Alexandra who not only graduated from high school but graduated with enough college credits to head straight into medical school. She was accepted out of 2000 applicants to get into a special accelerated program. Somehow she got the smart genes in the family. She wants to be a family practice doctor. We'll be celebrating her and her success this weekend. It will be great to see all the extended family too.
We will also be helping with my parent's basement. Their flood a few weeks ago did a lot of damage. They've had a lot of work done and we will be helping them unload their POD and get some things back to normal. Things are coming along!
Have a great weekend!
-Lady A will perform on the second episode of Saturday Night Live's new season on NBC. Melissa McCarthy who plays Molly on CBS's Mike & Molly will host. She's hilarious. The members of Lady A sure seem to have a good sense of humor. I'd be interested in seeing them included in a skit or two. You?
-Martina McBride's new album Eleven will be out 11-11-11. Wait, there's more...It's her 11th studio album and will feature 11 songs. It also celebrates Martina being the most played female Country artist over the past...(you guessed it)...11 years.
-It's no secret I love Eric Church. His new album Chief has been in my CD player since I got it. It's also the #1 album in the Country! It has his latest hit Homeboy is on it. His new single is exactly what you want to hear from him when he opens for Toby. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO DRINK IN MY HAND
-Sad death to talk about. Gone way too young. Jani Lane. Lead singer of rock band Warrant. He was only 47. If you've ever once stepped into a bar, you've heard Warrant's Cherry Pie if not Heaven. Down Boys & Uncle Tom's Cabin were big radio hits too. I grew up on a lot of rock, 4 big brothers will do that to ya. Jani has had a lot of issues revolving around alchohol. He died of undetermined causes according to TMZ.
We adopted our dog Sophie about 3 1/2 years ago. She was found in a ditch, paws stuck in frozen water. She was emaciated, fragile and scared to the bone. The rescuers took care of her for a few weeks before sending out word that she was perfect for adoption. At the time one of my best girl friends was volunteering at a nearby shelter and forwarded me the email she received announcing Sophie's adoption. Within a week we had Sophie home with us. In the beginning we struggled with her. She had severe separation anxiety and walked around with her tail between her legs 24 hours a day. She was obviously abused because any sudden move we made or loud noise heard she cowered and flinched. We had weeks of messes to clean up too. She'd "go" every time we put her in the laundry room. We gated it to give her her own space and had a doggy bed and blankets in there, the whole 9 yards. Whether we left the house or went to bed, we'd be greeted by a huge mess. That was until my shelter friend recommended we crate her. THIS was the answer to our prayers! At first I felt so bad putting her in a crate and locking her in. Do you know the minute we put the darn thing up she walked right inside and made herself comfortable? Never had another issue from that moment on. I've learned that the crate gives the dog their own spot to feel safe.
My Sophie is benefiting from me being home more often. Before, she would have a few hours of loneliness between me going to work and my husband coming home from work. Now she's free as a bird! No crate needed! She and I have been able to hang. Dogs can totally sense what's up. She can tell things aren't right and she's been by my side nonstop. She also seems to get a few more treats in this situation. Wouldn't it be nice to be a dog? Then again, a Kat's life ain't that bad either. :)
I've been a fortunate girl. I've worked for amazing legendary radio stations. I've learned so much from fabulous coworkers and managers. I've been able to love what I do everyday for the last 13 years. This is the first time I've experienced being "let go". It is something you can't understand until you've exerienced it. I've seen this happen to many a coworker, a friend. You feel bad for them and you offer support in any way you can, but you can't possibly imagine what's going through their heads and hearts. That is, until you go through it yourself.
Life goes into chaos mode and you really have to try to keep clear, rational & professional thoughts in and the emotional, overly dramatic thoughts out as best you can. Otherwise you can lose it and have an even harder time keeping your head on straight and focussing on moving forward. I'm only 48 hours in but I'm trying very hard to keep things level.
When life was "normal" I would spend hours on the internet every day keeping track of everything entertaining. All to use in some way on my radio show. Wether it was just a quick reminder of when an artist was releasing new music or even a YouTube Video of something funny that I could include on my radio station blog. It's called "show prep" in the radio world. A good radio DJ is doing show prep 24 hours a day. Thinking of using anything from the entertainment world, or life experiences on their show. I realized that in the last 2 days of tears, phone calls, emails & research on unemployment, I truly MISSED this aspect of my daily routine. This blog will be theraputic for me and will be a great way for you to still enjoy the treats I find entertaining! Hope you enjoy this. Let's have some fun!
One of the things that stood out to me today was a fan video of Taylor Swift's concert in Chicago. One of the very unique and admirable things Taylor is doing on her tour is recognizing artists from the town she is playing in. She teaches herself how to play that artists song on the guitar before reaching that city and "covers" or performs that artists popular song in her own way. She pays homage to the towns stars. While in Chicago she performed a song from Rock bad Fall Out Boy. I love when Country singers cover other artists songs. It's one of my guilty pleasures. Enjoy Taylor's version of Sugar We're Goin Down Swingin'. (try to ignore the girl taking the video - she sings a lot) :)
Taylor's new video for Sparks Fly features awesome concert footage!
Lady Antebellum gave me the comic relief I needed today. They along with Colt Ford, spoofed Jason Aldean's Dirt Road Anthem. All I gotta say is "club sandwich y'all!" LOL
